  • Overview

    AVL Powertrain Engineering's Vice President of Sales is responsible for market development  and sales growth through acquisition of customer projects and for setting up long-term business relations with the customer.  This role will develop strategic sales plans based on company objectives and goals that will promote sales growth and customer satisfaction for the organization.  In addition to growing sales and establishing business strategies, a collaborative working relationship between this position and the engineering team is required in order to deliver successfully.  This position will directly lead the PEI sales team.

    *Qualified candidates must possess at least 15 years of experience in the automotive industry; electrification experience is preferred.


    Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Employer will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position.


    • Creates business plans for the sales area.
    • Direct supervisor to the PEI sales area.
    • Leads strategic planning process for PEI including coordinating middle and long term planning based on market potential with the PEI Leadership team and key personnel
    • Implements the presales process.
    • Implements the sales process with support from the project manager and the Technical Director.
    • Develops customer specific business development plans
    • Develops and applies the principle of strategic and value selling including building organization capability
    • Collaborates with Manager program Management to obtain and track customer satisfaction.
    • Maintains customer care during project run time.
    • Updates business figures (order receipt, sales) and carries out target – actual comparisons.
    • Works out and executes fiscal counter-measures in the case of deviations.
    • Creates offers and makes consistent follow-ups.
    • Strong focus on margin in relation to projects.
    • Establishes, cultivates and expands positive customer relations.
    • Achieves targeted guidelines for sales, orders received and planned contribution margin.
    • Collaborates with the program managers and leadership team to optimize the proposal process and development of proposals
    • Conducts internal audits, as requested.


    Bachelors degree in engineering or related

    15+ years experience in related field

    7+ years experience in a leadership role with direct reports

    Strong attention to detail

    Proficient communication skills
