  • Overview

    Manages business development for the AVL line of model based calibration tools, virtual testing systems and test information data management solutions and related products offered by the BU-X. This position is a key role in the organization with direct links to BU-X management at headquarters in Graz, Austria and high visibility to senior management in North America. 

    Responsibilities

    • Defines the market requirements
    • Coordinates with the Regional Business Manager and Directors of Sales & Service in understanding customer and market needs.
    • Responsible for developing product sales strategies and achieving yearly sales goals within the application field.
    • Advises the Regional Business Unit Manager and AVL TSI President and staff on opportunities for both horizontal and vertical growth.
    • Provides market information that can be used to establish ROI and other justifying (or non-justifying) measures for internal R&D efforts.
    • Responsible for all aspects of BU-X product launches in North America according to the AVL PLP Product Launch Process.
    • Creates application white papers and writes use-case articles with customers for frequent publications at industry symposiums and online forums.
    • Contributes to the total ‘team sales’ effort by providing technical and sales support to product lines other than the ones associated with to meet corporate sales objectives.
    • Identifies promotional activities to develop a stronger AVL brand ID.
    • Presents the ‘customers’ voices’ internally within the company.

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree in engineering (mechanical or electrical)
    • Ten years experience in the business development field
    • Direct industry experience in powertrain calibration methodologies
    • Minimum five years supervisory experience
