    The Advanced Development Methods Team works to maximize powertrain development efficiency on AVL projects and support similar efficiency initiatives at customers.  AVL is looking for a team member to support the development of new software solutions for internal and customer projects.  Understanding the business needs of the customer and translating those into software requirements is the main function of this role. 

     

    The ideal candidate should have working knowledge of automotive powertrain calibration and development tasks with a focus on data collection and data processing.  Qualified candidates must possess proficient communication skills.

     

    Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Employer will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position.

    Responsibilities

    • Support innovative and strategic projects in the automotive/commercial vehicle industry for various domains (RDE, ADAS, Calibration, …) related to Data Management
    • Participate or coordinate workshops with customers to understand their problem, their context and the boundaries of the scope of work
    • Capture requirements and formulate them in a structured, common language, easy to follow by both business and IT
    • Work with key stakeholders and agile development teams to ensure business requirements are clarified
    • Participate in refining Epics (Features) and defining acceptance criteria and E2E validation points
    • Data source analysis and development of logical data models as basis for complex datasets analysis
    • Selection of relevant data in cooperation with data engineers, business partners and IT units
    • Cooperation with local and remote resource teams
    • Documentation of processes (AS-IS and TO-BE) and gap analysis
    • Support pre-sales activities (RFQ, RFP) with domain knowledge
    • Consult and advise customers on market trends and best practices regarding Data Management
    • Perpetuate the learning process based on individual training concepts to build up a firmly based specialized know-how
    • Ability to understand the big picture and relationships of each capability to the others across the program
    • Participate in the user acceptance process to validate the solution (feature level validation)

    Qualifications

     

    • Technical
      • Experience with Scrum & how Agile development teams execute on Agile projects
      • Provide effective mentorship for other departmental staff in areas of expertise
      • Good understanding of structured and unstructured data
      • Comprehensive knowledge of classical concepts DWH / BI / MDM
      • Extensive knowledge of modeling techniques like UML, BPM
      • Good understanding of data bases and programming e.g. Java, .NET, SQL, T-SQL, PL-SQL, MDX, …
      • Analytical skills and ability for conceptual work
      • Working experience with industry standard calibration tools (INCA, ATI Vision, etc.
      • Know-how and interest in Big Data and Cloud Technology as well as previous programming experience would be an advantage
    • Relational
      • Very strong soft skills – leadership – communication – facilitation – working with many different stakeholders with conflicting requirements and needs
      • Must be flexible and adaptable to dynamic environment
      • Communicative, determined and innovative personality with the ability for constructive exchange between business partners
      • Highly developed quality awareness, ability to work in team, organizational and problem-solving skills
      • Strong attention to detail and a rigorous focus on delivering quality output
    • Commercial
      • Support the Business Development process for specific clients.
      • Efficient on time delivery of program expectations with consistently high feedback.
    • Experience and Education
      • 3-5+ years of experience in area of expertise
      • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, business information technology, mathematics, engineering or related field required
      • Master’s degree in Engineering preferred
