  • Overview

    Gen  General Description:

    RespResponsible for performing the mechanical/pneumatic skills necessary to assemble all

    type cells of emissions and engine related test equipment and instrumentation.





    Resp  Responsabilities

    • Requires ability to execute mechanical/pneumatic jobs as required. Utilizing these skills, and working from blueprints or under engineering direction, must be able to execute a finished piece independent of close supervision.
    • Will be responsible for the construction and assembly of AVL products according to drawing packages
    • Will be responsible for instructing other technicians as a senior member of the manufacturing team
    • Will be responsible for the overall quality and productivity output of their team.
    • Will be responsible for cleaning and prep of all equipment scheduled for shipment to customer
    • Will be responsible for clean-up of work area



    • Senior Mechanical Technician must be able to proficiently execute work in one or more of the following skills: (Mechanical Assembly / CNC Machining / Pneumatic pipefitting tube bending) at a journeyman level or above. Please see detailed description below for additional information.
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Trade school certificate/diploma journeyman status or equivalent desired
    • 5+ years’ experience in a diversified manufacturing environment
    • Reliable, dependable, flexible
    • Team player
    • Ability and desire to cross train and continually learn new skills
    • Must be able to read mechanical prints/pneumatic flow diagrams and follow standards
    • Demonstrated ability to execute high quality and quantity of work
    • Good communication skills
    • Computer knowledge a plus
    • Ability and desire to instruct and coach other members of the team such that overall team skillset is raised
    • Ability to travel for on-site installations on a time to time basis

    Mechanical Assembly

    Proficient in the following skills:

    Assembly of components in accordance to assembly instructions

    Assembly of subcomponents into finished products

    Tig/Mig/stick welding and general fabrication

    Ability to operate standard shop tools, drill grinder, saw, and general fabrication tools

    Able to take a drawing to a finished piece with no supervision


    CNC Machining

    Proficient in the following skills:

    Include programming of NC path feeds and speeds on a Southco proto TRAX NC mill and lathe

    Include determination and procurement of required tooling

    Able to take a drawing to a finished piece with no supervision


    Pneumatic pipefitting tube bending

    Proficient in the following skills:

    Must have hand tube bending experience

    Must have the ability to custom bend tube in close quarters

    Pipe experience using NPT and other tapered threads, as well as the ability to solder high pressure connectors

    Complete understanding of flow circuits, check valves pumps etcetera

    Ability to produce a quality finished product working from engineering drawings and instructions with no supervision
