AVL Technical Center in Lake Forest, CA is looking to add a Testing Engineer to the team. Qualifid candidates for this position will have an applicable degree or experience. In addition, applicants must possess proficient communication skills - both written and verbal. This position will be involved in projects utilizing emerging technologies in the automotive industry. This role will provide technical and program execution capacity to Cross-Functional engineering program team activities for powertrain, transmission, driveline, and component testing.

The CTC group provides the required powertrain test system development and durability expertise to projects. Areas of support include but are not limited to: control systems, cooling systems, lubrication and vent systems, clutches, valve train, power cylinder, sealing systems and driveline structure. The specific roles of a Testing Engineer in this effort include:
Prepare test scripts for automated test procedures
Prepare CAPL scripts for implementation of CAN gateway between Unit under test & control system
Prepare test properties for installation into the powertrain test cell
Design 3 dimensional models of fixtures for Unit under test
Fabricate fixtures for support of Unit under test
Installation of wiring harness to Unit under test
Installation of data acquisition system to Unit under test
Plans and performs mechanical development and durability/validation and other relevant engineering project work within project team as required.
Works on specific phases or aspects of projects such as technical studies, preparation of specifications, powertrain testing, data analysis and validation.
Supports/ensures data quality and writes technical project reports.
Coordinates activities concerned with scheduling and resolving engineering test issues.
Supports and participates in customer meetings.
Reviews project for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer requirements, including opinions and interpretations.
General shop support
A Testing Engineer is expected to have demonstrated performance abilities in the following areas:

Cooling system development
Lubrication and vent system development
Durability and validation testing of engine and transmissions

3 dimensional modeling of supporting fixtures
Knowledge of AC/DC wiring
Knowledge of low voltage systems
Knowledge of high voltage systems: Batteries, Inverters, Motors

Experience and Education
Bachelors Degree in Engineering
