     POSITION LOCATED IN RAYMOND OHIO -25% Travel

    The AVL Applications Engineer is responsible for providing an operational test system to meet customers’ requirements within the scope of a project.  This job requires strong troubleshooting skills and an analytical mind set.  Via training, experience and mentoring, the Application Engineer becomes the product expert helping customers use AVL tools to not only meet customer needs but also to help customers gather testing data at the highest quality level with greater efficiency. 

    • Test automation systems used for:
    • Durability testing,
    • Performance testing,
    • Development testing,
    • Powertrain testing and simulation, 
    • Emissions testing and certification,
    • Racing development,
    • Vehicle testing
    • Dynamometer control systems
    • Vehicle simulation control systems
    • Emissions testing and certification systems
    • Data analysis packages
    • ECU optimization systems

    Combustion analysis systems

    ECU Calibration

    Engine testing experience and data analysis for dyno testing.

    Responsibilities

    a.  Act as liaison and company representative with customers.

    b.  Direct and perform engine testing, analyize data, create test plans, instruct test techs,

    c.    Write and implement automated tests

    d.    Provide technical support.

    e.     Provide clear and consise instructions.

    f.     Evaluate and present data

    g.    Present training

    h.    Requires travel

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree in engineering or equivalent preferred
    • 2-5 years experience in engine testing
    • Understanding of electrical and mechanical processes
    • Excellent troubleshooting skills in electrical, electronic and software
    • Experience with emissions bench and fuel measurement systems
    • Able to read and understand electrical and mechanical schematics and drawings
    • Background in internal combustion engine theory and operation
    • Understanding of instrumentation and electrical practices
    • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Thorough knowledge of PC operation, structure, MS Windows, and computer networking required
    • Experience with instrument calibration methods
    • Experience with excel, powerpoint and other tools for data analysis and presentation

    Ability to work within a group and take direction.
