    AVL Powertrain Engineering, Inc.     Engineers at all levels of employment with AVL should possess proficient communication skills that can be utilized when working directly with co-workers as well as customers.  In addition, the ability to work in a team environment is also required.


    Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Employer will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position.




    • Active pursuit of personal and departmental improvement
    • Effective communication with all levels of the program team
    • Coordinate project meetings/reviews as well as managing Action Items and Issues Lists
    • Facilitate file transfers to/from customers and suppliers
    • Plans and formulates work flow to meet specified deadlines with minimum supervision
    • Has engineering responsibility for major engine subsystems or component groups
    • Performs project work within specified deadlines.
    • Prepares and presents results to internal and external customers.



    A Project Engineer I is expected to have demonstrated performance abilities in the following areas:

      • Commercial
        • Support the Business Development process for specific programs
        • On time delivery of program expectations with favorable feedback
        • Active involvement in Annual Review and Work Planning Process
      • Technical 
        • Support opportunities for technology development and knowledge capture and re-use.
        • Actively pursues awareness of Global AVL technology capabilities
        • Familiarity with regulatory and market segment requirements and end-user expectations
      • Relational
        • Working effectively with customers and other program staff and team members
        • Accountability for individual delivery
        • Effective communication with all levels of the program team
      • Experience and Education
    • 0-3+ years’ experience in the area of expertise


        • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required
    • Master’s degree preferred
