Overview

Powertrain Engineering, Inc. is on the search for a local intern to take on an exciting opportunity within our DRIVE department.  This position will be located in Plymouth, MI and has the potential to run year round.  In this position the intern will be assigned to a direct mentor within the DRIVE department.  This Internship will provide exposure to a company that serves as an expert partner to the global automotive and mobility industry for the development of innovative powertrain systems.  In this area the intern position will have the following opportunites (not limited too):

  • Vehicle testing & simulation
  • Education on DRIVE
  • Direct experience interfacing with OEM's
  • ADAS Testing
  • Opportunities for research projects
  • Software Development

The Intern opportunity is a learning position and will be paid by the hour, without benefits. Interns are eligible to participate in the 401K program.  In addition to the opportunities listed above, Inters provide technical and program support to Skill Team and Cross-Functional engineering program team activities given direction from engineering leads.

 

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Employer will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Performs vehicle driveability instrumentation and testing along with other relevant engineering project work within project team as required.
  • Supports/ensures data quality and contributes to technical project reports.
  • Coordinates activities concerned with vehicle logistics, test planning and data delivery.
  • Supports customer meetings.
  • Other duties as required to insure project success.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma
  • Enrollment in current local University
  • Junior status at the University
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Aptitude and interest in the areas of vehicle engineering including driveability, vehicle dynamics and vehicle simulation
  • Excellent organizational and record keeping skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Accurate transcription and data input skills.
  • Good computer skills including familiarity with Matlab and other relevant software.
  • Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
