AVL Powertrain Engineering, Inc. is looking to increase the DRE team in Michigan. This position may be located in Plymouth, MI or a surrounding area in support of a customer project. The Project Engineer II - Design & Release role will be involved in a customer project to develop a performance engine. This position demands at least 3 years of CAD design experience, proficient communication skills and customer interaction abilities. In addition, qualified candidates must possess at least 3 years of gasoline engine experience.

Plans and formulates work flow of self and other to meet specified deadlines with minimum of supervision
Has engineering responsibility and can lead specific phases of projects i.e. technical studies, specification writing, establishing technical plans
Co-ordinates project meetings, design reviews and sign off reviews
Resolves engineering and design conflicts
Owns all system engineering tasks relating to system responsibility i.e.
Lead and author single team proposals
Provide engineering leadership to project teams
Bachelor’s degree in Powertrain Design OR applicable degree
3-5+ years’ experience in area of expertise
Excellent knowledge of more than one area of engine systems design or manufacturing process i.e.
Air system design, Block/Crankcase design, foundry practice
Can lead system engineering process i.e.
Team leader skills
Excellent communication skills
Flexible (location, hrs., test trips)
Demonstrated ability to deliver to customer program expectation
Communication and presentation skills
Book understanding of CAE tools and practices
