Overview

AVL Powertrain Engineering, Inc is looking for an experienced specialist who has a deep understanding of the automotive battery area.  To be qualified for the Technical Specialist role candidates must possess at least 10 years of applicable experience in the automotive battery field.  In addition, it is required to have proficient communication skills and customer experience.  The Technical Specialist will be responsible for the technical and successful delivery of battery system projects.

 

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Employer will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance to the engineering and sales teams in the area of battery systems.
  • Demonstrate technical leadership in battery system development.
  • Interface with the AVL global battery expertise and ensure a commonality of process is followed
  • Responsible for the technical delivery of battery system programs.
  • Support the program manager for management of the project finances and time lines.
  • Work with colleagues to ensure appropriate technology is developed/applied to ensure program success.
  • Develop a significant relationship with the customer with the objective of securing additional and future business.
  • Work with Skill Team Leaders and Engineering Director to ensure programs are resourced effectively.
  • Identify program resource and capital needs and communicate this to the Engineering Director and Skill Team Leaders.
  • Maintain a cutting edge knowledge of battery systems
  • Provide status reports to Leadership Team.
  • Review and approve technical project reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering; Masters Degree preferred, Electrical Engineering preferred
  • Ten years experience in Battery Systems Design or Development activities.
  • Five years experience leading projects of value greater than $150k
  • Demonstrated ability to lead project teams of greater than 5 persons.
  • Demonstrated customer care skills.
